Work With What You've Got

and make the best out of it!

Would ya'll believe me if I told you that I have Asthma? About twice a year I get a horrible bout of Bronchitis which wipes me out for almost a month too. Talk about miserable! I'm on Asthma and allergy medication, inhalers, and I almost always cough when I'm working out or running (my running friends will laugh when they read this one). I'm allergic to almost everything outdoors and I avoid things that irritate my lungs (smoke, dust, strong perfumes, etc). I've had bad allergies and Asthma my whole life, but I've never let it stop me or hold me back.

As tough as having this condition is, I've never let it be a reason for me to not do what I've desired to do. I'm not an excuse girl. I've accomplished many things that I'm super proud of (training for and running 5 marathons-including Boston, qualifying for Boston 4 out of 5 of my marathons that I've done, scoring a spot as the 19th fastest female in SC rankings for 2 months this year, and placing as the 4th female to finish in the Myrtle Beach Half in March). Not telling these things to brag, but to give a little inspiration to those of you who may feel like things aren't possible due to circumstances. Well guess what? They are. All things are possible if you believe in yourself.

Don't let anything stop you from doing what you love. Sure, it may not always come easy, but that's part of the journey. And a little side note-nothing good ever comes easy. If it were easy, everyone would do it, right? If you have the love and passion for something, there's nothing that can get in your way. Don't lose your fire for something because you don't think you can or you have an excuse not to. Mind over matter is a real thing. Just like running a marathon- you have to be strong, if not stronger mentally than physically, to make it happen. Remember- the hard is what makes it so great. And your heart and drive are the two most important components to get you where you want to be. So get out there and make the most out of yourself. Stop telling yourself you can't. Yes you can and yes you will.

"You are strong because of what you overcame, brave because of what you defeated, fierce because of what you mastered, and powerful because of what you conqured."

Until next time,

Stephanie
